Metropolitan vibe

There’s something extraordinary and playful in this Moravian mode de vie. And the same goes for restaurants, coffee shops, and bars.

Brno’s bar scene

Some say that nightlife was invented in Brno, and even that it is home to the best bars in the Czech Republic. The bar scene is just like Brno itself: playful, warm, and a little bit peculiar. Let’s take a look. There’s “The bar that doesn’t exist” with premium liquors and live jazz. If you are into dadaism and fancy cocktails, you’ll love Super Panda Circus, the best bar in the country. Nothing there makes any sense and that’s just about right. What about Slast (Delight) and 4 Pokoje (Four Rooms)? Mysterious ecstasy.

Cafes

In Brno, we have the highest cafe-to-inhabitant ratio in the whole Czech Republic. And we love premium coffee. That’s why the famous Coffee Week festival was founded in here. Get ready for a caffeine-fueled ride.

Feeling like a hipster today? Try Skog Urban Hub, Punkt, Rebelbean or Jaga. Try V60 and the raw cakes there. They taste like heaven. In the mood for a cozy little cafe? Try Momenta, Mymika, Coffee Trail, or Kafec and you’ll feel like it’s raining outside and you’re eating cookies in bed. So smooth and warm.

Architecture

For admirers of architecture, Brno is a true marvel. The city is diverse, surprising, and beautiful. As you walk through Brno you will come across medieval castles, churches and cathedrals, the pioneering works of modern architecture and the skyline buildings of the future. The biggest highlight of them all is the beautiful Cathedral of St. Peter and Paul, located in the city center on the so-called Petrov Hill. You can’t miss it.

Other historical classics are definitely Špilberk Castle and the lookout tower of the Old Town Hall, from which you will have a view of Brno from above. Don’t miss the Capuchin church and crypt near Zelný Trh, the Church of St. Jacob, or Veveří Castle. The first half of the 20th century was a golden era of Modernist architecture and splendid villas. The most astonishing, the Villa Tugendhat designed in the Functionalist style, is a UNESCO World Heritage site. In Brno, you will also find the tallest building in the country: the AZ Tower skyscraper reaches a height of 111 meters and its 30 floors are home to a shopping gallery, offices, and luxury apartments. Set off on an tour of Brno’s architecture and travel through time.
