Conference tourism: 2023 in numbers

10. April 2024

In the South Moravian Region, nearly 2285 MICE events were held with 204,871 participants throughout the past year. This marks a 13% increase in the number of events and almost a 21% rise in the number of participants compared to 2022. Furthermore, Brno-city saw even more notable growth. In Brno itself, there was a 37.7% surge in events compared to 2022, with 34% more participants attending than in the previous period.

While the data is encouraging, we have not yet matched the results of 2019, which we still consider as the benchmark. Compared to 2019, last year’s figures for the entire region were at 93% in terms of both the number of events and participants. In other words, in 2023, there were 267 more events in South Moravia than in 2022, but still 168 fewer events than in 2019.

Last year demonstrated strong potential for the development of conference tourism throughout the entire South Moravian Region. Outside of Brno, 456 out of the total 2285 events took place, accounting for a 20% share. Although this represents a decrease compared to 2022, it remains a promising outcome that we can further cultivate in the future.

Therefore, we are actively mapping both established and newly emerging venues ideal for hosting conferences and corporate events across the entire region. We present them to interested parties as compelling alternatives to Brno. Within our venue catalogue, you can easily filter out captivating spaces for hosting events, with the “countryside” filter specifically highlighting locations outside the city of Brno.
